The ProtoCOL 3 automated colony counting and inhibition zone sizing system has a unique tri-color imaging method to detect colored and white colonies as small as 43 microns. The system requires minimal training and is designed for busy microbiology quality assurance laboratories. It features an LED lighting system configured for exceptional illumination of all sample types. High-definition, color images taken with a 1.4 megapixel scientific grade CCD camera ensure that even the smallest colony can be seen and counted, while zone measurements are accurate and reproducible. The system is available with a mounted touch screen processor which enables ease of control while the easy-to-use software produces accurate results. Alternatively, the unit can now be used with a new or existing stand-alone desktop or laptop computer via USB connection – no additional PCI cards are required.
