Nova Scotia Company Recalls Liver Pate

Wed, 01/15/2014 - 12:44pm

OTTAWA (The Canadian Press) — A Nova Scotia company has recalled some liver pate because it may contain a bacterium that causes botulism.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says Hausmacher liver pate from Webbers Food was sold in unlabeled glass jars from Nov. 13 to Dec. 5, 2013.

The pate was sold at just two stores: Hammonds Plains Farmers' Market in Hammonds Plains and the Lunenburg Farmers' Market in Lunenburg.

The agency says consumers who have the product should just throw it out.

Food contaminated with the toxin (Clostridium botulinum) may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with eating this product.
