Monsanto Acquires Plant Trait Developer

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Agricultural products giant Monsanto Co. said Tuesday it bought Rosetta Green Ltd., a company that develops plant traits using RNA technology.

Financial terms weren't disclosed.

Based in Israel, Rosetta Green specializes in identifying and using genes to guide processes in corn, soybeans, and cotton. The company was spun off from Rosetta Genomics Ltd. in 2010 and went public the following year on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange.

Shares of Monsanto rose $1.50 to $103.12 in afternoon trading.
