SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Coca-Cola Co. says it plans to close a Sacramento bottling and distribution facility it bought just two months ago.

David Ethridge, general manager of the Sacramento business, says the 60-employee operation on Stockton Boulevard will close at a date to be determined, calling it a "difficult decision."

The Sacramento Bee reports the Coke parent company bought the Sacramento Coca-Cola Co. in January at the request of the Sellers family, which had owned the business since its founding in 1927.

But Ethridge says shortly after the acquisition Coke realized it had too much capacity and didn't need the facility, which produces about 9 million cases of product a year.

Officials say the shutdown won't affect administrative and distribution offices in nearby Natomas or a distribution site in Modesto.
